Superintendent of Police N. Mathivanan has ordered a series of traffic changes to ensure smooth flow of traffic at key intersections in Vellore town. The traffic changes will come into effect on a trial basis from Saturday (November 30).
According to a press release, vehicles heading from Sathuvachari and Katpadi to Green Circle roundabout, below NH 44, will not be allowed to proceed straight towards the service lane.
Instead, they should drive to the National Theatre and turn right on to Nainiyappan Street to access the service lane.
Likewise, vehicles heading towards new bus terminus and Chittoor bus stop at the Green Circle should proceed straight to the National Theatre and take a ‘U’ turn to reach the roundabout, the release said.
Similarly, motorists cannot proceed straight from the roundabout to Chenani Sathuvachari, Vellore Old Town areas and Tiruvannamalai. Instead, they should go to Chelliamman temple near the new bus terminus and take a ‘U’ turn to go to the aforesaid places, the press release said.
