Tiruvannamalai landslip: Stalin condoles deaths, announces solatium

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Tuesday (December 3, 2024) condoled the death of seven persons, who were killed in Tiruvannamalai after a boulder fell on their house following a landslip triggered by torrential rains. He also announced a solatium of ₹5 lakh to next of kin of each of the deceased.

Around 4 p.m. on December 1, a huge boulder and mud fell on the house of Rajkumar when he attempted to open his house located on 11th Street in V.O.C. Nagar in Tiruvannamalai. About 40 personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were involved in the rescue operations.

However, despite the rescue efforts, seven persons were killed in the incident. The deceased were identified as Rajkumar, Meena (27), R. Gowtham (9), R. Iniya (5), S. Ramya (7), M. Vinothini (14) and S. Maha (7). In his message on Tuesday (December 3, 2024), Mr. Stalin condoled the deaths and announced a solatium of ₹5 lakh to families of each of the deceased.
