Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Monday alleged that a parliamentary amendment supported by the AIADMK resulted in handing over the rights of auctioning the Tungsten mining to the Centre.
“The AIADMK supported the amendment and the DMK opposed it,” he said, rejecting the AIADMK MP Thambi Durai’s claim that he had only supported a bill seeking to allow the private sector to mine six out of 12 atomic minerals and not the Tungsten project.
The Chief Minister in his social media message said Tamil Nadu had not come forward to implement the Tungsten project at Arittapatti in Madurai. “Many states retained the rights to auction mines. When the Centre introduced an amendment to deprive the states of their rights, the AIADMK supported the Bill,” he said.
Mr Stalin said the betrayal of the AIADMK had been exposed. “It has supported the Centre in Delhi and is opposing it in Tamil Nadu. It will not cut ice with people,” he said.
“Which amendment Mr Thambi Durai supported? It is not a betrayal to snatch away the rights of the state and hand it over to the Centre/ Whom do they want to cheat?” he asked.
Mr Stalin said even the lies of a smart man would be exposed after a week. “But the lies of Mr Edappadi Palaniswami (AIADMK leader) cannot be sustained even for eight seconds. Let him speak the truth,” he said.
