Chief Secretary Neerabh Kumar Prasad has directed the officials to make elaborate arrangements for the upcoming visit of the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, on December 17. The president will be attending the first convocation of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Mangalagiri.
During a review meeting held at the Secretariat on Tuesday, Mr. Neerabh Kumar Prasad emphasised the need for meticulous planning in accordance with protocol, ensuring that no mistakes occur during the President’s visit. The officials from various departments have to coordinate and take all necessary steps to make the visit a success. As per the provisional schedule, the President will arrive at the Gannavaram International Airport at 11:20 a.m. on December 17, travelling by Indian Air Force aircraft. She will proceed by road to AIIMS Mangalagiri, reaching the venue by 12:05 p.m. to participate in the convocation ceremony. After the event, she will return to Gannavaram Airport and depart.
Since the visit will involve the participation of the Governor, Chief Minister, and several Union and State Ministers, the Chief Secretary directed the officials to ensure robust arrangements for the event. Orders were issued to each department outlining the necessary preparations. This includes welcoming the President at Gannavaram Airport and ensuring all arrangements are in place until she departs after the AIIMS convocation.
Medical and Health Department (Special Chief Secretary) M.T. Krishna Babu briefed the CS on the preparations made by his department. DGP Dwarka Thirumala Rao, who joined the meeting virtually, provided details on security arrangements. The District Collectors of Krishna, NTR, and Guntur districts—Balaji, Lakshmisha and Nagalakshmi— explained their plans and arrangements for the President’s visit. Deputy Director of Protocol Mohan presented an overview of the arrangements required across various departments.
The AIIMS Director and the Director of Gannavaram Airport, along with officials from various departments, also participated in the virtual meeting to update the CS on their preparations.
