Tamil Nadu netas attack Amit Shah over Bhim; Uddhav slams BJP’s ‘arrogance’

CHENNAI/MUMBAI: Tamil Nadu politicians, including CM MK Stalin, his deputy Udhayanidhi Stalin, AIADMK spokesperson D Jayakumar, Congress chief K Selvaperunthagai, VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan, and actor Vijay of TVK, on Tuesday criticised Union home minister Amit Shah for his remarks on BR Ambedkar in Parliament.
“Only those who commit sins should worry about virtue (punniya). Those who care about the country, the people, and the Constitution will only mention the name of revolutionary Ambedkar; it must be mentioned,” Stalin wrote on X.
Thirumavalavan said: “How can the descendants of Savarkar bear the fact that the entire country is hailing Ambedkar?”
Vijay said, “Some people may be allergic to the name ‘Ambedkar’. He was an incomparable political and intellectual figure.”
In Mumbai, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray said Shah’s remarks showed BJP’s “arrogance” and demanded that PM Modi take action against him. Thackeray said Shah would not have dared to make remarks about the chief architect of the Constitution without the backing of BJP and RSS.
