On December 21, 2024, Ukrainian drones launched a significant attack on the Russian city of Kazan, over 600 miles from the front line. Eight drones targeted high-rise residential buildings, including the 37-floor Azure Skies tower and the 23-floor Manhattan residential building, causing explosions and fires. One drone was shot down over a river, and another struck an industrial facility. No casualties were reported, but the attacks led to the temporary closure of Kazan International Airport and the evacuation of schools.
