Re-examine tungsten block in Tamil Nadu, GSI told after protest

Following several representations against auction of tungsten block in Nayakkarpatti in Tamil Nadu‘s Madurai, Union ministry of mines Tuesday said it has asked Geological Survey of India to re-examine the block and explore the possibility of redefining its boundaries, excluding a bio-diversity site. It asked the state govt to keep the process of issuing ‘Letter of Intent’ to the preferred bidder on hold for the time being. Hindustan Zinc Limited won the auction for Nayakkarpatti block, spanning 20.16 sqkm.
