Bengaluru girl Nythika A. L., 6, won three medals at the 62nd National Roller Skating Championship – Artistic Discipline, held in Pollachi, Tamil Nadu between December 5 and 10, 2024.
Competing in the 5-7 age group, Nythika represented Karnataka and brought home three medals: two gold medals for the Figure Skating and Solo Dance categories and a silver medal in the Quad Freestyle category. This is the first time the state won three medals in this age group in the Artistic Discipline, her mother Lekshmi C., said.
Speaking about her daughter’s journey, Ms. Lekshmi said that two years ago, Nythika explored various sports, but found her passion in skating. “There was no turning back after she put on roller skates for the first time. Today, as she stands as a state champion, we are hopeful that she will one day represent India,” she said.
A Class 1 student, she participated in the event representing Karnataka from the Flying Skaters Club.
