Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter has passed away at 100, surrounded by family at his Plains, Georgia home, the Carter Center announced. President Joe Biden hailed Carter as a “dear friend” and “extraordinary leader,” while Donald Trump acknowledged his legacy. A peanut farmer and Navy lieutenant, Carter served as Georgia governor and U.S. president (1977–1981). His wife of 75 years, Rosalynn Carter, passed away in November 2023 at 96.
