Ara: A 22-year-old man was shot at twice during a quarrel that broke out between two rival groups of youths at a birthday party in Babu Bazaar locality under Town police station of Ara on Wednesday night.
Aashish Kumar, a resident of Mahadeva Road under Town police station of Ara, was rushed to the sadar hospital with gunshot injuries to his neck and scrotum, from where his family took him to a local private hospital, where he is undergoing treatment at present, said SHO Devraj Rai on Thursday.
“The bullets have been removed and his condition is stated to be out of danger at present. Though the family members are yet to lodge an FIR in this regard, we are investigating the case on our own. Three youths, all in their early twenties, have been detained and are being interrogated,” said the SHO.
Aashish told reporters at the Ara hospital that he went to the birthday party to help his friend’s elder brother who was being beaten up by some youths. “I rushed to the hotel, where the party was going on, when my friend informed me about the quarrel. When I confronted with those youths who had beaten up my friend’s elder brother, one of them shot at me after I came out of the hotel,” he told the reporters.
Sadar subdivisional police officer, ASP Parichay Kumar, who had rushed to the sadar hospital, said the CCTV camera footage of the hotel is being examined to identify the culprits.
