The public is paying their respects to former President Jimmy Carter during a week-long funeral ceremony in Georgia. Following his death on December 29 at the age of 100, his body was transported from Plains to Atlanta, where it will lie in repose at the Carter Presidential Center until January 7.
The ceremonies began with a motorcade that honored his legacy, stopping at significant locations in his life, including his childhood home and the state capitol, where a moment of silence was observed. Carter’s state funeral will take place in Washington, D.C., on January 9.
