Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter’s casket departed The Carter Center in Atlanta, Georgia, following the completion of memorial services. His remains are now en route to Washington, D.C., where they will lie in state in the Capitol Rotunda until his funeral on Thursday at the Washington National Cathedral. Afterward, the Carter family will return to Plains, Georgia, for a private funeral, where the late president will be laid to rest in his hometown.
