People asked to step up efforts for rainwater conservation

Madhubani: A function under the aegis of district administration and District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), presided over by DM, Arvind Kumar Verma, was held to observe Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Diwas here on Tuesday.
Addressing the function, the DM emphasised the importance of public awareness to make the campaign successful. While stressing the importance of conservation of rainwater, he said the depleting groundwater in Madhubani district is a matter of grave concern. He urged the private entities to install rainwater harvesting systems over the next six years and asked citizens to engage actively in water conservation efforts.
Underlining the significance of the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali and environment conservation initiatives, he administered an oath to all officials.
Deputy development commissioner; director DRDA; DPRO and district agriculture officer and other officials were present at the function.
