Ara: The traffic flow on the Ara-Patna and Ara-Chhapra road is most likely to be congestion-free from the next month after the completion of the proposed and ongoing construction works on this route, an official said.
The construction of a slip road at Manbhawan Chowk in Koilwar, the widening of both flanks of Ara-Babura Road and its ongoing re-construction work are likely to be completed by the end of this month. Besides, three control rooms for better regulation of traffic are being set up at Koilwar, Babura and Parev, which will prevent the vehicles from being static on the Koilwar bridge, he added.
“About five to six thousands sand-laden trucks pass through the Ara-Babura Road every day. However, for the last couple of months the construction work is underway on the two lanes of this important road. Therefore, the traffic remains confined to only two lanes. This has become the main ‘choking point’ for the jam. I have ordered to intensify the construction work of the slip road at Manbhawan Chowk in Koilwar. After its construction, the vehicles will take the slip road rather than creating jam on the overburdened Ara-Babura Road,” said Bhojpur DM Tanai Sultania, who along with the Bhojpur SP, Raj, inspected the arterial road on Wednesday.
The DM further asked the road construction department officials to fill soils on both sides of the Ara – Babura Road to widen its both flanks. “All these measures are likely to be completed by the end of January. We are working in mission mode to ease the traffic jam on the Ara-Patna and Ara-Chhapra Road.”
Emphasizing the need to have coordination between the officials for reducing the jam, the SP said three well-coordinated control rooms are being set up at Koilwar’s Manbhawan Chowk, Babura and Parev. “The officials at these control rooms, equipped with wireless, will work round the clock, and not allow vehicles to remain static on the Koilwar bridge, and decide by mutual coordination when to release the trucks on a particular route,” he added.
