Ara: An elderly couple, Shri Giri alias Shri Bhagwan and his wife Shiv Kumari, in their 70s, were found murdered with their throat slit by a sharp-edged weapon at Tar Mathiya village under Agiyaon Bazar police station area of Bhojpur district on Saturday morning. The couple used to live alone at their house as his son, Umesh Giri, works in Odisha, said police. The incident came to light when a villager knocked at their door multiple times, but no response came from insde. Suspecting some foul play, he called other villagers who broke opened the door. The villagers found the couple dead in their house and soon informed the police. Piro sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) in-charge Abu Saifee Murtaza told reporters that they got information about the incident around 8am on Saturday. “I along with Agiyaon Bazaar SHO, Priyanka Gupta, and other police personnel rushed to the spot with the FSL team that collected samples as evidence.” The SDPO said the police questioned family members of the deceased and villagers about the incident. “Preliminary investigation revealed that the elderly couple had no enmity with anyone. However, further investigation is going on to ascertain the motive of the murder.
