Bhagalpur: Bhagalpur police arrested a wanted criminal, Eiyaz alias Nadha, carrying a reward of Rs 25,000, during a special operation targeting absconding offenders. Nadha, involved in nine cases, including murder, dacoity and Arms Act violations, was nabbed near Sultanganj on Friday.
“Nadha was among the top 10 criminals in Bhagalpur district and part of a dreaded gang led by Tinku Mian,” SSP Hriday Kant said.
Nadha had disembarked from a train at Bariarpur, suspecting police surveillance, and boarded an autorickshaw to Bhagalpur. However, police teams, led by City SP Shubhank Mishra, intercepted him based on intelligence about his movements. “Three teams were deployed at strategic locations, including railway stations, to ensure his arrest,” the SSP added.
The arrest was part of a broader 24-hour drive that netted 36 criminals, including several on warrants. The SSP said SHOs have been asked to update and act on top 10 criminals within their jurisdictions.
“We will request bail cancellations in Nadha’s prior cases,” the SSP said. “Nadha is now being interrogated. The team responsible for Nadha’s arrest will be rewarded. His interrogation and mobile records may lead to further arrests,” Kant said.
