Pakistani Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai has condemned the treatment of women and girls in Afghanistan as "gender apartheid." Speaking at a girls’ education conference in Islamabad, sponsored by the Muslim World League, she criticised the Taliban’s oppressive policies and urged Muslim leaders to take stronger action.
The conference, aimed at advancing education for girls, notably excluded Afghan representatives due to the Taliban’s ongoing ban on girls’ education. Yousafzai, who survived a Taliban assassination attempt in 2012, called for global accountability and serious dialogue to protect girls’ education rights.
