As of January 15, 2025, Qatar’s Prime Minister has announced that negotiations for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas are in their final stages, with significant progress made towards an agreement. This development comes after 15 months of intense conflict that has resulted in substantial loss of life and destruction in Gaza.
The proposed deal will be executed in three phases. The first phase involves the release of 33 Israeli hostages currently held by Hamas. In exchange, Israel will release 50 Palestinian detainees for each female soldier freed, and 30 Palestinian prisoners for the remaining civilian hostages.
