Syria’s new ruler Hayat Tahrir al-Sham has stopped five Russian ships from entering Tartus naval port, according to Kyiv Post’s report, citing shipping industry reports. The ships were seen just off the Syrian coast, waiting to enter its only overseas base. Tartus had been a critical hub for Kremlin military logistics in the Middle East and Africa. Russian president Vladimir Putin signed an agreement with ousted Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in 2017, giving the Kremlin rights to use the base for 49 years. Watch this video to know more.
