The Kudumbashree Mission’s skill development programmes in 2025-26 will focus mainly on emerging sectors such as information technology (IT), artificial intelligence (AI), and green energy, Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar said in his policy address in the Kerala Assembly on Friday.
Kudumbashree, the women-led community development initiative, continues to be a cornerstone of the State’s social empowerment agenda. The K-LIFT (Kudumbashree Livelihood Initiative for Transformation) campaign has provided over 1.75 lakh livelihood opportunities, particularly for rural women.
Kudumbashree’s auxiliary groups that comprise women in the 18-40 age group will be expanded to higher education institutions with the aim of equipping young women with necessary skills to avail themselves of opportunities.
The Governor mentioned that the increasing share of the elderly population in the State had necessitated innovative care solutions. The Kudumbashree’s K-Care project had successfully trained caregivers to provide quality palliative care for the elderly.
Disaster awareness campaigns had also been undertaken in partnership with the Kudumbashree, leading to empowerment of local communities to meet disaster-related challenges.
