Chhapra: With the arrest of two more youths on Saturday in the gang-rape case committed on Jan 16 under Bhagwan Bazar police station area of Saran district, the total number of arrested accused has gone up to three. The police had already arrested the main accused, Rishi Kumar, who befriended the girl on social media, and raped her with his three other friends behind a colleege when she was returning home after appearing in the matriculation practical exam from Baniapur in Saran. Meanwhile, police were conducting raids to arrest the fourth accused.
Police said a case under section 70(1)/3(5) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was lodged by the rape survivor in Bhagwan Bazar police station on Thursday. As per the complaint, the girl accused four youths of raping her.
“So far three youths have been arrested in this case, while raids are being conducted to arrest the fourth accused. Those arrested on Saturday are Gulshan Kumar and Nitish Kumar, residents of Brahampur. Several criminal cases are lodged against both in Bhagwan Bazar and Rail police stations. Police have completed other formalities regarding this case,” said Saran SP Kumar Ashish.
