Chhapra: Emphasising the need for safe and affordable residential facilities for the working women and girl students in Saran district, MP and former Union minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy has demanded the early implementation of the “Sakhi Niwas Yojna“. He wrote a letter to CM Nitish Kumar on Friday, urging for the effective implementation of this scheme in the state.
Rudy said there are important institutions and industrial establishments like J P University, govt medical and engineering colleges, Rail Wheel Plant at Bela, and Marhowrah Diesel Locomotive, where a large number of women are working or studying. They need safe and affordable accommodation under “Sakhi Niwas Yojna” which will not only ensure their safety, but also help them become self-reliant, he said.
Rudy urged the CM to take initiative at the state level and allocate funds for the same under this scheme and give priority to the construction of women’s hostel in Saran and other districts. He hoped that this would be an encouraging step towards women’s empowerment and their welfare.
