The UK government has announced a rapid national audit and several local inquiries into child sexual exploitation by grooming gangs. Additionally, £5 million has been allocated for local inquiries in Oldham and up to four other areas, with £2.5 million designated for reviewing cold cases. This decision follows recent criticisms, including those from tech entrepreneur Elon Musk, who accused Prime Minister Keir Starmer of being "deeply complicit in the mass rapes in exchange for votes." Starmer has refuted these claims, stating that those spreading such misinformation are "not interested in victims." The issue of grooming gangs has been a longstanding concern in the UK, with previous reports highlighting systemic failures in addressing child sexual exploitation.
