2 held for stealing human skulls from Bhagalpur graveyard

Bhagalpur: Days after an incident of theft of human skulls from graves at Sakrama village under Sanhoula police station in Kahalgaon subdivision surfaced on Jan 20, a special investigation team (SIT) of Bhagalpur police arrested two Banka residents in this connection on Tuesday evening.
Police said Mohd Imdad Alam, a resident of Porai village under Bounsi police station in Banka, and Mohd Azad of Birbalpur in Dhankund area of the district confessed that they had dug up a grave and took out a skull on Jan 20. “They told us during interrogation that they are sorcerers and possess magical powers with the help of human spirits. They conjure spells to cure people from evil spirits and diseases caused by black magic, for which they use the human skulls, the arrested duo further told the SIT — formed at the behest of Bhagalpur senior superintendent of police (SSP) Hriday Kant,” said a police officer.
Bhagalpur SSP Kant said that the SIT, monitored by city SP Shubhank Mishra and Kahalgaon subdivisional police officer (SDPO), cross examined several suspects in the region and ultimately zeroed on the two sorcerers. The arrested duo is being forwarded to jail, the SSP added.
After the sensational incident of theft of human skull from a graveyard at Sakrama village under Sanhoula police station came to light on Jan 20, an FIR was registered and the SIT formed.
Bhagalpur SSP Kant said that he had alerted the police forces to keep a tab on such elements. “We urge people not to believe in such elements (sorcerers) and take medical help for any disease to discourage such fake healers. We are trying to find out if there were any other cases registered in the past in this connection,” the SSP said.
