Provide security to CSP operators: Bhojpur SP to SHOs

Ara: Bhojpur SP Raj on Tuesday asked station house officers (SHOs) of all police stations in the district to provide adequate security to customer service point (CSP) operators within their respective jurisdictions. The order holds significance in light of the broad daylight murder of a 38-year-old CSP operator, Dharmendra Rai, on Monday by unidentified bike-borne assailants. The CSP operator, brother of a BJP neta, succumbed to his grievous injuries on the way to Patna Medical College Hospital after being shot in the forehead. He was also robbed of Rs 4 lakh, which he had withdrawn from a PNB branch under Bahoranpur police station in Bhojpur district.
“The Bhojpur SP has instructed all SHOs in the district to provide adequate security to CSP operators, who function under their respective jurisdictions, when collecting or carrying money. The SHOs have been asked to add all CSP operators in their respective areas to an exclusive WhatsApp group meant for them and maintain regular contact to ensure their security when required,” read a press release issued from the Bhojpur SP’s office on Tuesday.
Taking stern action against the recent surge in crime under Bahoranpur police station in the Jagdishpur sub-division, the SP, late on Monday night, suspended Bahoranpur SHO Abhay Shankar. Prior to the CSP operator’s murder on Monday, a govt school teacher, Yogendra Kumar (40), was shot by masked assailants on Jan 26 while returning from a flag-hoisting ceremony at Chamarpur Upgraded Middle School under Bahoranpur police station in Bhojpur district. These two back-to-back incidents have raised serious concerns among locals about their safety.
Meanwhile, a special investigation team (SIT) headed by Jagdishpur SDPO Rajiv Chandra Singh has been constituted by Bhojpur SP to arrest those responsible for the CSP operator’s murder. “We have obtained some important clues regarding the incident. The culprits will be arrested soon,” Raj said. The district intelligence unit (DIU) team is also assisting in the investigation of the murder case.
