Patna: Driver of a doctor was found hanging in a private nursing home in the Phulwarisharif area of the state capital on Wednesday.
The deceased identified as Subodh Kumar (31), a resident of Chand Chaura area in Gaya town, had been working as the driver of Dr Tanveer Hoda for the last two years.
Police said he was struggling with problems in his family and was burdened with debts. The police added that under pressure from his family and lenders from whom he had borrowed money, he allegedly died by suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan.
Phulwarisharif sub-inspector (SI), Gopal Prasad Mishra, said: “Subodh used to stay in a room of the clinic of the doctor. After having dinner on Tuesday night, Subodh went to sleep inside his room. When he did not open the door on Wednesday morning, other staff of the clinic peeped through the window and found him hanging.”
The body was sent for autopsy to the AIIMS-Patna. The SI said the family members of the deceased were informed about his death. The forensic team also visited the spot and collected samples from there, the SI said.
“During the preliminary inquiry from the doctor and family members of the deceased over the phone, it was revealed that Subodh took loans from many people in his village and in Patna also. He was depressed due to the burden of the debts. Further investigation is going on in the matter,” he added.
