In response to President Donald Trump’s recent threats to impose high tariffs on Mexican goods, Mexico has deployed the first contingent of 10,000 National Guard and Army troops to its northern border. On Wednesday, a line of Mexican National Guard and Army trucks was observed along the border separating Ciudad Juárez and El Paso, Texas. Masked and armed National Guard members were seen removing ladders and other items used for illegal crossings.
