Confectioner found dead in Samastipur

Patna: A confectioner (halwai), Suresh Shah, 25, was found dead in the Madhupakar Chaur area under the Vidyapati police station area of Samastipur district on Sunday morning.
According to police, Suresh, son of Jagannath Shah, and a resident of Simri village, was a confectioner by profession and he had gone to attend a wedding ceremony in the Halai police station area along with his friends on Saturday.
Dalsinghsarai SDPO, Vivek Kumar Sharma, said: “The police were informed about the recovery of the body by some local people. Vidyapati Nagar police station has been instructed to provide a report on the entire matter. The entire case is under investigation, and the body was sent for postmortem at the sadar hospital.”
The deceased’s father, Jagannath, said that Suresh went to work as a cook at a wedding ceremony with some friends in the Halai police station area. Late in the evening, we were informed that Suresh met with an accident, he said.
“We searched for him the entire night and asked other villagers to help us, but could not trace him. In the morning, the police informed us that a body was recovered in Madhupakar Chaur under Khesraha panchayat. When we reached the spot, we found that the body was that of Suresh. We suspect that he was murdered and his body was dumped there,” the deceased’s father added.
Sharma said there were strangulation marks on the deceased’s body and his knees were broken.
“His friends are on the run. The police are trying to trace them. His bike was also recovered near his body. It appears that Suresh was beaten up and then strangled. We have detained some persons for interrogation. Soon the case will be solved,” the SDPO added.
