Manipur News Live | Imphal Valley turns fortress after CM Biren Singh Steps Down | BJP

In a major political development, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has submitted his resignation to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla today. Singh, who led the BJP government since 2017, stepped down amid internal party conflicts and ongoing unrest in the state. His resignation follows discussions with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi, after which he returned to Imphal and held a crucial meeting with BJP MLAs before proceeding to Raj Bhavan. The leadership transition has sparked uncertainty ahead of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly session, set to begin tomorrow. The BJP’s choice of successor will be key in addressing ethnic tensions and governance challenges in the state.

During an area domination operation in vulnerable locations, Manipur police on Sunday apprehended a suspected arms smuggler at the Porompat area under the Porompat police station in Imphal East district. Police said that they seized indiscriminating documents, one mobile phone, and a voter card from him.
