2 women retuning from Maha Kumbh die, 8 hurt in Rohtas road accident

Sasaram: Two women returning from Maha Kumbh Mela died while, eight others sustained injuries in a road accident on NH 19 under Shiv Sagar police station area of Rohtas district on Wednesday morning. They were returning after taking holy dip in the Sangam at Prayagraj in (Uttar Pradesh).
“An SUV, carrying 10 people and returning from Prayagraj to West Bengal, collided with a stationary truck on the stretch, resulting in the death of two women on the spot and causing injuries to eight others,” said Ritesh Kumar, SHO of Shiv Sagar police station, who suspected that the accident was a result of the vehicle driver dosing off at the wheel.
The deceased were identified as Jeetu Das (42) and Lokhi Chakraborty (45), while the injured include Ujjwal Das, Nisha Das, Ranjan Ghosh, Rohan Ghosh, Ansar Ali, Kaushal, Indu Das, Pallav Banerjee, and the vehicle’s driver, Umar Farooq, all residents of Devganga area in 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, the SHO said.
According to reports, local residents and personnel of National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) responded quickly to the incident, and rushed the injured people to the trauma center at sadar hospital in Sasaram for treatment.
Upon receiving information, Shiv Sagar police reached the spot and sent the two bodies to hospital for postmortem. “The bodies will be handed over to the families after the completion of legal formalities,” the SHO added.
In a similar incident on Tuesday, three members of a family returning from Maha Kumbh Mela had died in a road accident, while two others sustained serious injuries on NH-19 near Muthani, under Mohania police station in Kaimur, on Tuesday morning.
As per the police, the accident took place when a three-wheeler collided with a stationary truck on NH-19.
