Patna: Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) MLA from Barachatti, Jyoti Devi, has appealed to CM Nitish Kumar to grant two-day leave to teachers and other govt employees to allow them to take a holy dip in the Maha Kumbh Mela at Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh.
Jyoti, who also is a relative of Union Minister and party patron Jitan Ram Manjhi, handed a formal request letter to the CM, stating that the govt employees deserve to take a holy dip along with their families at Sangam.
“Not only the people from across the country, but even from abroad visited Prayagraj in large numbers, inspired by the Indian culture. But those in govt jobs have not got the opportunity to visit there as they have to attend duty every day,” Jyoti said on Saturday, urging the CM to grant a two-day leave to the govt employees to visit the holy place.
“I appeal to the CM to grant at least a two-day leave to teachers and other govt employees so that they can take a holy dip in the Sangam,” Jyoti told the reporters.
She added that many teachers and other govt employees approached her with the request to convey their message in this regard to the CM.
