Patna: A 35-year-old employee of North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (NBPDCL) was shot dead by unidentified assailants during his morning walk in the Shikarpur police station area of West Champaran district on Monday.
Police said Sanjeev Kumar was attacked by four armed motorcycle-borne miscreants near Gopala Brahmansthan in Narkatiaganj. His wife, Nisha Barnwal, was walking along with him at the time of the incident.
The assailants first stabbed Sanjeev with a knife and then shot him three times in the chest, abdomen and hand. He was an executive assistant in the NBPDCL, Narkatiaganj.
Narkatiaganj SDPO, Jaiprakash Singh, said: “We received information about the incident at 7.30am and rushed to the spot. The incident occurred about half a kilometre away from the deceased’s home. The victim was taken to a hospital with the help of his wife, where he was declared dead. The deceased’s wife alleged that the murder was linked to a six-year-old land dispute with their neighbour, Mohit Kumar. She claimed that Mohit’s men had opened fire at Sanjeev six months ago, but he escaped unhurt.”
The SDPO added police launched an investigation into the murder and are searching for the assailants.
