Cong’s election strategy being planned: Allavaru

Patna: Newly appointed Bihar Congress incharge Krishna Allavaru on Monday stressed the need to strengthen the organisation’s connection with the people. Allavaru, who held a high-level meeting at the party’s state headquarters at Sadaquat Ashram here, said the Congress’s election strategy was being planned and would be shared once finalised.
When asked about the number of seats Congress would contest in the upcoming Bihar assembly election, scheduled later this year, Allavaru, who is on a four-day Bihar visit, said, “Congress is strong. We will together make the strategy and let you know. The strategy is being planned.” On whether the party would contest alone, as it did in the Delhi assembly elections, he gave a vague response, saying the strategy was being made.
Allavaru added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visits to Bihar would have no impact on Congress as the party would continue its work regardless.
This is Allavaru’s second visit to Bihar, during which he will travel across the state to meet local netas. On Monday, he held meetings with functionaries from Patna Mahanagar, Patna Gramin 1 and Patna Gramin 2, attended by district presidents, block presidents and former contenders. A separate meeting was held with local MLAs.
On Tuesday, Allavaru is expected to visit Begusarai to meet party functionaries from Begusarai, Samastipur and Khagaria, followed by a visit to Ara to engage with leaders from Buxar. On Feb 27, he will travel to Muzaffarpur for meetings with leaders from Sitamarhi, Sheohar and Vaishali.
During his first visit on Feb 20, after assuming charge, Allavaru made it clear that those who work hard would be given space in the organisation or considered for tickets. He also cautioned against internal factions within the party.
Congress state media head Rajesh Rathorre said Allavaru’s presence has energised party workers, particularly the youth, as he is also in charge of AICC Youth Congress. “He is also directly connected to our leader Rahul Gandhi and this is being seen as an advantage,” Rathorre said.
