Patna: Products worth nearly Rs 2 crore were sold during the five-day ‘Fagunotsav’ fair that was organised by Bihar Mahila Udyog Sangh at Gyan Bhawan here.
The fair, which concluded on Monday, exhibited products especially prepared by women entrepreneurs of the state and even beyond, including Kashmir, Assam, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Uttarakhand among others.
The fair, organised in association with micro-small and medium enterprises (MSME), Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) and Women and Child Development Corporation (WCDC), exhibited a total of 200 stalls with unique items prepared by women entrepreneurs of different states.
Speaking at the concluding ceremony, industries minister Nitish Mishra said the women entrepreneurs were contributing positively in the country’s development. “Women are performing well and moving ahead in almost all the fields they are venturing in, including entrepreneurship, leading to their empowerment as well as growth of the economy as well,” said Mishra.
He praised the women entreprenuers and their products put up at various stalls on the occasion.
Detailing about the sales and customer turnout at the five-day event, Usha Jha, president of Bihar Mahila Udyog Sangh said along with the products, even the food stalls selling several traditional varieties of local delicacies were liked by the visitors. Both registered handsome sales. The other items like clothing materials, ready-made garments, decorative show pieces and daily-domestic use materials also did good business, she said.
“The total sale of Rs 1.93 cr registered during the Fagunotsav is very encouraging and all the sellers are very happy with the customers’ footfalls,” said Jha. She added that besides offering platforms to local women entrepreneurs, the fair, this time, also invited artisans and entrepreneurs of other states.
