Ara: A week after a 10-year-old boy lost his life in a celebratory firing during a wedding, Bhojpur police arrested the main accused, Anshu Kumar, ASP-cum-Ara Sadar SDPO Parichay Kumar said on Sunday.
“Ashish Kumar, a resident of Tetariya village under Udwantnagar police station, sustained a gunshot wound to the head during celebratory firing at a wedding in his village. He later succumbed to his injuries on March 2. His family lodged an FIR against Anshu at Udwantnagar police station,” the SDPO added.
A special police team, led by Udwantnagar SHO Ram Kalyan Yadav, arrested Anshu from Zero Mile area of Ara. “During interrogation, he confessed to his involvement and named other youths who also fired shots that day,” the SDPO said.
Based on his statement, police are conducting raids to arrest others involved. Sources said the incident occurred at the house of one Ram Bachan Yadav, where a “baraat” had arrived from a nearby village.
