Patna: Patliputra University (PPU) has announced that it will conduct the pre-PhD admission test on March 23 for 803 available seats across various disciplines including arts, science and commerce. The university said a total of 5,818 candidates are set to appear for the test.
According to PPU registrar N K Jha, the admission test is part of the university’s annual process for enrolling candidates into its PhD programme. However, 1,581 applicants have already qualified for the National Eligibility Test (NET), Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), or state-level exams. These candidates will be exempted from taking the pre-PhD admission test and will move directly to the next stages of the selection process, he said.
The test is an essential step for the candidates wishing to pursue a doctoral degree at the PPU. The seats available are spread across multiple faculties, with students from the arts, science and commerce streams all vying for a place in the university’s PhD programme, Jha said.
The university authorities have urged all the candidates to familiarise themselves with the exam guidelines and ensure they are well-prepared for the upcoming test which will be conducted on OMR sheets for two compulsory papers. Jha said candidates who pass the test will move forward in the selection process which includes interviews and other evaluations to determine their eligibility for the PhD programme.
According to the registrar, the pre-Ph D admission tests are being conducted for 25 subjects which included political science, Hindi, public administration, chemistry, economics, history, philosophy, psychology, physics, commerce, zoology, botany, mathematics, electronics, ancient Indian history and archaeology, geography, sociology, home science, LSW, English, Sanskrit, Urdu, music, Pali and Maithli.
