Bhagalpur: With an aim to enhance passengers’ safety and comfort, Eastern Railway (ER) has started replacing the conventional Integral Coach Factory coaches in passenger trains with ultra-modern Linke-Hofmann-Busch (LHB) coaches from Germany on major routes.
In this context, the ER has decided to introduce the LHB coaches in 13401/13402 Bhagalpur-Danapur Intercity Express, one of the most preferred train for passengers visiting the state capital from the district, from March 23.
Emphasising the importance of the LHB coaches, Manish Kumar Gupta, divisional railway manager (DRM) of ER’s Malda division, said it aims to give the passengers a superior travel experience and safety.
“These coaches are renowned for their spaciousness, upgraded passenger amenities and enhanced comforts. The features include wider windows, providing passengers with panoramic views, and an anti-telescopic mechanism designed to prevent piercing into other coaches during unforeseen accidents,” he said.
He added the upgraded berth capacity will not only bolster operational efficiency but also contribute to meeting the growing demands of the customers.
The introduction of LHB coaches in all the major trains is in the offing, the DRM further said.
