Spectator gored by bull at jallikattu dies

A 55-year-old spectator, who was gored by a bull at the jallikattu organised at Annavasal village in the district on Sunday, died of injuries. The six-hour long event left 24 others injured.

The police gave the name of the deceased as M. Muthuadaikalam of Rajagopalapuram in Pudukottai. Police sources said Muthuadaikalam was gored by a bull at the collection point following which he was referred to the Government Hospital, Annavasal, where he died. As many as 633 bulls were released during the course of the event with the number of participating tamers being 250. Five among the injured were referred to the hospital.
