Love whiff: Bihar man guns down teen, her father before killing self

ARA: In a terrifying act of violence, a 24-year-old man shot dead a 16-year-old girl and her father before killing himself at Ara railway station on Tuesday evening, plunging the premises into chaos and panic.
The bloodshed occurred on the foot overbridge where Aman Kumar, a compounder from Asni village, Bhojpur, opened fire on Ayushi Kumari, a 16-year-old MBA aspirant studying in Delhi, and her 53-year-old father, Anil Kumar Sinha, before turning the gun on himself. All three died on the spot.
Eyewitnesses described a scene of sheer terror as gunshots rang out, sending passengers scrambling for cover. According to police sources, the motive behind the attack was unrequited love. Ayushi, who had come to board a train back to Delhi, had allegedly rejected Aman’s advances. Consumed by obsession and rage, he shot her and her father before taking his own life.
Ayushi hailed from a highly educated family. Her elder sister is an IITian in Hyderabad, her father worked in a private firm in Ara and her mother is a teacher at Navodaya Vidyalaya at Bihiya in Bhojpur. The family had recently celebrated housewarming ceremony in the Bhilai locality on the outskirts of Ara town.
Ara ASP and Sadar SDPO Parichay Kumar, who rushed to the station after the incident, said, “Prima facie, unrequited love appears to be the reason behind the incident.
