Bhagalpur: Two people shot each other at Bhawanipur village in Naugachia police district of Bhagalpur late on Thursday night after a heated brawl over some personal issues. Karan Poddar (30) and Shubham Mishra (25) succumbed to their bullet injuries to chest at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital (JLNMCH) in Bhagalpur around midnight.
Mishra was a teacher at a local private school, while Poddar is survived by wife and a one-year-old son.
According to the local residents, both were having angry discussions, along with three other friends, when the incident happened around 10.30pm. On hearing the shots, the residents rushed to the spot and informed the local Rangra police as well as family members.
They were first rushed to Naugachia subdivisional hospital, from where they were taken to JLNMCH around midnight, when the profusely bleeding men died even before they could get any treatment.
Naugachia superintendent of police (SP) Prerna Kumar, in a press communiqué, stated that she, along with Naugachia SDPO Omprakash and a police team, had rushed to the incident spot after getting the information. “An FSL team, along with Rangra police, has started an investigation, and has been gathering evidence. The exact reason of the dispute and killings is being verified. A police team is on the hunt of the other three friends who were present during the incident,” said the SP.
Mishra’s mother Premlata Devi told the police that her son had gone out after dinner, saying he would be back soon, but it appears that there might have been some conspiracy to kill her son.
Meanwhile, police are camping at the Bhawanipur village.
