Declaring the revival of ties between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in Tamil Nadu, BJP senior leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, alongside AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, announced the alliance between BJP and AIADMK for the 2026 Assembly election in Tamil Nadu, during a press conference at Chennai on Friday (April 11, 2025).
Edappadi Palaniswami will lead the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Tamil Nadu, said Mr. Shah.
He further stated that AIADMK did not place any demand or conditions (for reviving ties). When asked about the reinduction of expelled AIADMK leader O. Panneerselvam and Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran into AIADMK, he said that there will not be any interference in the AIADMK’s internal affairs.
