Ara: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) neta Rakesh Ojha on Wednesday lodged an FIR against three named people for allegedly opening fire on his SUV when he along with other party men and friends was returning to his village, Ojhwaliya, from a Tilak ceremony at Bharauli village under Shahpur police station area in Bhojpur on Tuesday night. Rakesh is son of Visheshwar Ojha, the former BJP state vice-president, who was brutally murdered in 2016.
Shahpur SHO Kumar Rajnikantsaid that the accused had also attended the ceremony in which the BJP neta was present. “An old enmity is believed to be the reason behind the attack. An FIR has been lodged against Shivajeet Mishra, Kishun Mishra and Sant Mishra, while the fourth one is yet to be identified. Shivajeet Mishra and Kishun Mishra are from Sonbarsha village, while Sant Mishra hails from Bharauli under Shahpur police station.”
Rakesh Ojha, state executive committee member of the Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth wing of the BJP, said, “I along with my party men and friends had gone to Bharauli village to attend a Tilak ceremony. Fortunately, while returning from there, I chose to sit in another SUV that was behind my car. The accused, thinking that I was travelling in my SUV which was moving ahead, chased the vehicle and opened fire while overtaking it. However, I escaped the attack due to swapping of the vehicle at the last moment. I identified three attackers but I couldn’t figure out the fourth one.”
Shahpur additional SHO, Kumari Jyoti, said, “The case is being investigated and we are trying to gather evidence from the spot.”
