Patna: In a mark of protest over the chargesheet submitted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against party leader Rahul Gandhi and his mother Sonia Gandhi in the National Herald case, the youth wing of Congress disrupted the service of an express train at Secretariat Halt in Patna on Friday.
During the protest, the youth workers had laid down on the railway tracks and stopped the Jaynagar-Patna Express train. The police, however, acted swiftly and removed the protesters from the tracks.
Youth Congress state president Shiv Prakash Garib Das said that Rahul has been active in Bihar and raised questions against the NDA govt at the centre as well as in the state. “He has been raising issues related to the Dalit, backward and minority communities in the country. That has scared the Narendra Modi govt, which is misusing power and harassing our leaders. Today, we have stopped a train and will continue fighting on issues,” he said.
On the other hand, the BJP Yuva Morcha members on Friday too had hit the streets over the same issue and burnt effigies of Rahul and Sonia over their alleged involvement in the case near the Income Tax roundabout.
On April 16, Congressmen staged a similar protest near the ED office in the state capital. State Congress president Rajesh Ram, AICC Bihar in charge Krishna Allavaru, legislature party leader Shakeel Ahmed Khan and other party leaders and workers had staged a demonstration at the Income Tax roundabout.
