US Vice President JD Vance arrived at Palam Airport in New Delhi on Monday morning, marking the beginning of his first official visit to India. Accompanied by his Indian-origin wife Usha Vance, their children, and senior members of the US administration, Vance will be in the country until April 24.
In anticipation of his arrival, welcome hoardings were put up near Palam Airport. Vance’s four-day itinerary includes high-level meetings and cultural visits to key Indian cities.
The Vice President meets Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday evening at 6:30 pm at the Prime Minister’s official residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg. Their discussions are expected to focus on strengthening India-US cooperation in trade, defence, and economic engagement.
Following the official engagements in New Delhi, the Vance family will travel to Jaipur on Tuesday, and then to Agra on April 23. In Agra, preparations are underway at the iconic Taj Mahal for their visit. The UNESCO World Heritage Site has hosted many world leaders over the years, including former US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump in 2020.
