Now, attempt to murder case booked against IAF officer in Bengaluru road rage case

Hours after being arrested, call centre employee Vikas Kumar filed a complaint against IAF officer Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose, accusing him of attempt to murder during the scuffle over road rage in Bengaluru on Monday (April 21, 2025).

Based on his complaint, the Byappanahalli police charged Mr. Bose under Sections 109 (attempt to murder), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 304 (snatching for theft), 324 (crime of mischief), 352 (intentional insult with an intent to provoke breach of peace), for further investigation.

The duo engaged in a fistfight in public near C.V. Raman Nagar in east Bengaluru over road rage. Wg. Cdr. Bose was en route to the airport to go to Kolkata to attend to a medical emergency while his wife Madhumita, who is a squadron leader, was driving the car when the incident occurred.

Later, Bose’s wife, who was present with him during the episode, went to the police station and filed a complaint. Mr. Bose also put up a video message on social media accusing Vikas Kumar of assaulting him with a key and a stone, and “hurling abuses at him in Kannada” to give a different twist to the incident.

The police initially arrested Vikas Kumar and recorded his statement. However, after verifying the CCTV footage and recordings of the incidents from bystanders, it was allegedly revealed that Mr. Bose had also attacked and assaulted Vikas Kumar, and kicked him after he fell on the road.

Both videos had gone viral on social media. The police will now summon Mr. Bose for questioning.
