Patna: A 23-year-old man was found hanging at his rented house in Gopalganj district on Thursday, with police confirming it as suicide.
Deceased Vishal Kumar, who hailed from Ballia district in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh, had been living with his parents and brother at the rented house in Town police station area of Gopalganj for the past three years.
Town station house officer (SHO) Om Prakash Chouhan said Vishal worked at a dupatta factory in Jangalia locality of the town area. “There was no one at the time of the incident in the rented house. His parents and younger brother had gone to their native village in Ballia district. Vishal was also scheduled to go to his native village to attend a ‘sraddha’ ceremony on Thursday. Instead, he hanged himself from the ceiling with a loincloth. A neighbour found him hanging and raised an alarm, following which local residents reached the scene and informed the police,” the SHO said, adding they sent the body for postmortem.
“The body was kept in a mortuary after postmortem, as the family members were yet to return. The reason behind the suicide is not clear, as the family members have not given any statement yet. The forensic team have collected samples from the scene, while the investigation is on,” the SHO said.
