Patna: Body of a 30-year-old married woman was found under suspicious circumstances beside NH-30A near Nadawan village in the Barh police station area of Patna district on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Gudiya Devi, wife of Ashok Yadav, a resident of Sahanoura village, under Barh sub-division.
People noticed the body in the morning on the roadside and they informed the police. A purse, containing some documents, was also recovered from the spot.
The police said there were injury marks on the woman’s face and neck, and blood was flowing from her ears. Upon receiving information about the recovery of the body, ASP, Barh, Rakesh Kumar reached the spot and started an investigation.
He said that prima facie the case appeared to be that of murder. “Initial observations suggest that she may have been strangled, as indicated by the visible marks on her neck. After killing her, the accused dumped the body on the roadside to make it look like a road accident. The police are investigating the case,” Kumar said, adding that the forensic team was called to gather evidence from the spot.
The ASP added, “The woman lived at her maternal home at Dayachak in Barh. The police sent the body to the sub-divisional hospital for postmortem.”
Gudiya’s brother, Ankush Kumar, said she left the house saying she was going to Patna. He added that his uncle and some villagers saw the body while going to the field around 5am and informed the family about it.
“The family hasn’t submitted a written complaint in this regard,” said the ASP.
