R-Day: DM outlines security, traffic arrangements

Patna: Altogether 113 magistrates have been deputed at 71 locations in and around Gandhi Maidan for the Republic Day celebrations to be held on Sunday. A temporary police station and control room have been set up along with three quick response teams stationed at the place for keeping tab on the happenings taking place in and around the venue, said DM Chandrashekhar Singh here on Friday.
“All the deputed magistrates, police officers and police force personnel are advised to reach their respective positions on time on the day. They will remain there till the entire crowd has left the Gandhi Maidan. The sector officers should ensure implementation of the said direction,” said the DM, adding, 22 magistrates and police officers have also been stationed in the district control room in three shifts.
All the vehicles and equipment would be allowed in the Gandhi Maidan only after anti-sabotage technical inspection on the day, he said.
He added that people will enter the Gandhi Maidan through gate numbers 4, 5, 6 and 7, whereas the media personnel would be allowed through gate no. 9, while gate no. 8 has been reserved for tableaux. The guests would enter the venue through gate numbers 10 and 11. He also said that traffic would remain diverted in and around Gandhi Maidan on the day, adding, all the invited guests have been requested to take their seats by 8.30am.
“As many as 20 contingents are participating in the parade while tableaux from 15 departments would be on display on the occasion,” said Singh.
