Bhagalpur: Hectic preparations are underway for CM Nitish Kumar’s scheduled Bhagalpur visit on Saturday as part of his Pragati Yatra. Senior officials, including Bhagalpur DM Nawal Kishor Choudhary, SSP Hriday Kant and divisional commissioner Dinesh Kumar made spot visits and gave necessary instructions to the officials concerned on Thursday.
Although the itinerary remains undisclosed, an official said the CM would visit Bihar Agricultural University, Rajandipur village (affected by soil erosion), Bahadurpur High School in Barari panchayat, the proposed interstate bus stand, a railway overbridge site at Ishakchak, the integrated command and control centre and Samiksha Bhawan to review ongoing projects.
According to sources, the CM is expected to inaugurate and lay foundation for welfare and development projects worth over Rs 1,200 crore. “He might also discuss the proposal for starting air services from Bhagalpur and review the status of the proposed central university at Vikramshila Mahavihara,” sources said. Discussions on the parallel bridge adjacent to Vikramshila Setu are also likely.
Divisional commissioner Dinesh Kumar, DM Choudhary, Sadar SDO Dhananjay Kumar, SSP Hriday Kant and City SP Shubhank Mishra have been reviewing security and logistical arrangements. “The CM will assess the progress of various projects and inaugurate a basketball court, badminton court, volleyball court, running track and a sports stadium at Bahadurpur High School,” the DM said.
Twenty-two departmental stalls showcasing ongoing projects will be presented to the CM. “He will also inspect the Anganwadi Poshan Vatika, which provides fresh, nutritious food to combat malnutrition,” the DM added. The CM will visit a pond developed under Jal Jeevan Hariyali Abhiyaan for water conservation.
