JD(U) leader Mahesh Mishra shot dead in Bihar’s Gaya, 3 arrested

A preliminary investigation suggests that a property dispute might have led to the murder. Three people have been arrested following statements from Mishra’s family.

NEW DELHI: A JD(U) leader was shot dead by armed assailants near his residence in Churihara village, Bihar‘s Gaya district, on Wednesday night, police said.
The deceased, Mahesh Mishra, was the block secretary of JD(U) and deputy ‘mukhiya’ of Chiraila panchayat under Belaganj Police Station.
Deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Ravi Prakash Singh said, “Mishra was shot near his house. He was rushed to a government hospital but was declared dead on arrival.”
Following statements from Mishra’s family, three people have been arrested.
A preliminary probe suggests that a property dispute may have led to the murder, the DSP added. An investigation is underway.
